Chapter 15. Managing Your Apps

You probably wouldn't have a Pre if you weren't an "organizational" type. And, along with organizing yourself goes keeping your Pre in order and up to date. This chapter covers basic data management tasks, including adding/deleting apps and other stuff to your Pre, updating the Pre's webOS operating system, and backing up and restoring.

Downloading and Installing New Apps

You use the App Catalog to add applications to the Pre. The process is very easy. Because the Pre is so new, there aren't thousands of apps available yet. But, as time goes by, more and more apps will become available, and you'll no doubt want to try them out. (Have a peek at Chapter 16, by the way, for some of my favorites.)

At the time this book was written, the App Catalog was still considered a beta product: that is, a product being tested. You might notice the Beta banner that appears in the screenshots of the App Catalog as you read this section.

Before you install apps, I recommend checking the amount of space available on your Pre. Tap the Launcher button to display all the apps loaded on your Pre. Swipe from right to left in Launcher until you find Device Info. Tap it and look at the Available field under Phone (see Figure 15-1).
