These folks made this a better book by critiquing our writing and catching mistakes through which you would otherwise have had to suffer.

We discuss the UI of several applications in Chapter 3. The creators of those applications kindly gave us permission to dissect their work. Howard Tomlinson, the creator of Bejeweled, Alexander Hinds who wrote WordSmith, and last and most importantly C. E. Steuart Dewar who wrote DateBk4 and Datebook+, all allowed us to use their work to teach you about designing handheld applications. You should know that we made no attempt to review the applications as wholes. On the contrary, we ripped apart each application and discussed the UI out of context so as to show you a neat trick or a less-than-perfect design choice. Even though they knew that this was happening to their creations, they let us proceed. Such generosity and willingness among colleagues are much appreciated by us. Advice on what applications to use in this chapter also came from the recommendations of a couple of folks at PalmGear (the best place to find Palm OS stuff on the Internet, http://www.palmgear.com).
