Syncing from POSE

In order to sync directly from POSE, you’ll need to do so over TCP/IP. This process—while simple—requires some setup on the desktop and also on the emulated handheld. Note that you need to do one version of the setup or the other, depending on which version of Palm OS you are running.

If You Are Using Palm OS 3.3 or Later

Here are the steps you’ll need to follow if you’re using Palm OS 3.3 or later (containing the new Serial Manager).

On the desktop:

  1. Right-click on the HotSync icon in the system tray.

  2. Make sure the Network menu item is checked.

In POSE:

  1. Right-click on the POSE window and choose Settings Properties. Make sure the Redirect NetLib calls to host TCP/IP checkbox is checked.

  2. From within POSE, open the HotSync application.

  3. Choose the Modem Sync Prefs menu item.

  4. Tap on the Network push button, and tap OK.

  5. Choose the Primary PC Setup menu item.

  6. Enter !! for Primary PC Name (this special name causes the address to remain at 127.0.0.1 rather than updating it to the real IP address; this is important for a desktop whose IP address changes dynamically).

  7. Enter 127.0.0.1 for Primary PC Address (this specifies the local host).

  8. Tap OK.

  9. Tap the Modem push button in the main form.

  10. Tap the Select Service trigger.

  11. Tap the Done button.

  12. Tap the HotSync bitmap button to sync.

If You Are Using Palm OS 3.0 to 3.2

Here are the steps you’ll need to follow if you’re using Palm OS 3.0 to 3.2 (containing TCP/IP but the old Serial Manager).

On the desktop:

  1. Right-click on the HotSync ...
