Palm Programming Mailing Lists

The following mailing lists are hosted by Palm, and it’s common to see Palm employees answering questions. While these lists are not officially supported, they serve as a good self-support mechanism and are constantly used by developers to answer each other’s questions.

Palm’s developer web site has forms to subscribe to any of these lists:

Palm Developer Forum

General Palm OS development

Conduit Forum

Development of conduits, for both Windows and Mac OS

Emulator Forum

Discussion of Palm OS Emulator

Communication Developer Forum

Discussion of communications (TCP/IP, serial, Bluetooth, IrDA)

Tools Forum

Discussion of development tools

Java Forum

Java development (both native and conduit)

Web Clipping Forum

Development of Web Clipping applications

Web Clipping Announcements

Announcements (no posting allowed) of interest to all Web Clipping developers

There are also forums for each of the licensees (IBM, Symbol, and so on).

Almost all the messages from the first two lists (Palm Developer Forum and Conduit Forum) have been archived at Yahoo! Groups (http://groups.yahoo.com/group/palm-dev-forum/ and http://groups.yahoo.com/group/conduit-dev-forum/). Less comprehensive archives for those groups, as well as archives for all the other groups, can be found at http://www.escribe.com.
