The Role of the CEO

I have noted many times in this book that the onus of the success of Ownership Thinking should not fall on the shoulders of the owner and/or CEO. What, then, is the role of the CEO, and what might he or she do to ensure the success of Ownership Thinking? I believe the most important role of the CEO is (1) to be committed to the implementation of Ownership Thinking, which means allowing for the resources necessary to ensure its success, and (2) to communicate this commitment whenever and wherever possible. Any new initiative, much less one as comprehensive as Ownership Thinking, will be met with some resistance.
