Using the SAS PostScript Driver

If you're printing to PostScript printers, you have the option of using a generic PostScript driver supplied by SAS. This will create a standard PostScript file that you can print on any PostScript printer. This avoids the problem of creating a file based on your default printer at the time, and then having problems printing it to a different make or model of PostScript printer.

To request this driver, include the PRINTER=POSTSCRIPT option in your ODS PRINTER statement. Better yet, you can use the shorthand option PS, or just use ODS PS (dropping the PRINTER). The following three statements are equivalent:

ODS PRINTER SAS PRINTER=POSTSCRIPT;
ODS PRINTER PS;
ODS PS;
