Exploring RTF as Created by Microsoft Word

One way to understand RTF control words is to read the Microsoft documentation on the subject. Another approach is to create a file with Microsoft Word using the formatting that you want and save the file as an RTF file. You can then open the RTF file with Notepad or another text editor to view and edit the control words. This is especially helpful if you want to do something special like insert some other formatting or information.
