About the Authors

Colin Chartres is the Director General of the International Water Management Institute, which is headquartered in Colombo, Sri Lanka, and operates across Asia and Africa. He has over 30 years experience working in natural resources management in the private sector, academia, research institutions, and government. A keen traveler and trekker, he is acutely aware of the increasing impact that humans are having on the environment and that science-based solutions, placed in the right socio-economic context, can alleviate some of these impacts and improve the livelihoods of poor people.
