RFC 1371: Choosing a “Common IGP” for the IP Internet

I am often asked, “Which routing protocol should I use in my network?” or “Why should I choose OSPF as my IGP?” This RFC provides some excellent answers to these questions and is worth reading if you are involved in network design or implementation. The authors of this RFC did an excellent job in providing a summary regarding the business case and relevance of such an RFC. They provided the rationale behind making an overwhelming endorsement of OSPF as the IGP of choice for IP networks.
