5. Building Blocks

In this chapter, we examine some of the basic utility classes on which the OSPF implementation is built. These classes are presented in UNIX man page format, and concentrate on the classes’ functionality and programming interface. The goal is to give you enough familiarity with the classes so that when you encounter them in the source code, you will understand their use. (This chapter could be skipped on first reading and referred back to when an understanding of certain utilities becomes necessary.)
