Creating Calendars

Open Calendar to get started; choose Go→Applications in the menu and double-click the Calendar icon, or use Launchpad to find and start Calendar.

You can create calendars that reflect the different areas of your everyday life, such as your work schedule, bill due dates, or school events. Having a separate calendar for each makes it easier to organize your time.

There are two ways to create a new calendar:

bullet.tif Choose FileNew Calendar. If you are signed in to iCloud, choose File→New Calendar→iCloud.

bullet.tif Press maccmd+Option+N. This action won’t work, though, if you are trying to create a new iCloud or other network-based calendar.

Performing either of these opens the Calendars list and displays an untitled calendar. Next, simply type a name for the calendar. Create as many as you need before proceeding.

Your calendars are now ready to be put to work. There are a number of ways in which you can manage them:

bullet.tif Arrange calendars in the list by clicking and dragging them into the order you prefer, as shown in Figure 8.1.

8.1 Click and drag calendars into the order you prefer.
