Troubleshooting

Safari can make web surfing a joy, but nothing is perfect. Just like anything else, Safari sometimes doesn’t behave. The following sections provide a quick look at some of the most common problems experienced when surfing the web with Safari, what causes them, and suggestions for how to fix the situation.

A web page won’t open

There could be a lot of reasons why a web page doesn’t open, such as:

bullet.tif The page may be temporarily down. If so, try accessing it later.

bullet.tif You may not have an Internet connection. Even if you were cruising the web seconds before, something may have caused you to lose connectivity.

bullet.tif The cached site is corrupt. If this is the case, your browser keeps trying to open the corrupt cache site instead of refreshing it. To fix this, try emptying the cache and reloading the website. Choose Safari→Empty Cache from the menu and then select Empty.

bullet.tif Be sure that you are typing the correct website address. This mistake has bitten me more than once!
