Logging in to Accounts

When you first start your Mac in the morning, or if you have to restart it at some point during the day, you most likely need to log in to the system using your account name and password. You can also log in to other accounts at the same time without having to restart the Mac or shut down your running applications (now that’s cool!).

Login Options

Click Login Options at the bottom of the Users & Groups window to see what options you have, as shown in Figure 4.5.

Login Items

Login Items are applications or utilities that you have slated to automatically start when you log in to your account. You must be logged in to an account to see its Login Items window, as shown in Figure 4.6.

To change the Login Items for an account, follow these steps:

1. Click the account you want to alter in the users list.

2. Click the Login Items tab near the top of the Users & Groups window.
