Download a File
Some websites make files available for you to save to your Mac using Safari. Saving data from the Internet to your computer is called downloading.
For certain types of files, Safari may display the content right away instead of letting you download it. This happens for files such as text documents and PDF files. In any case, to use a file from a website, you must have an application designed to work with that particular file type. For example, if the file is an Excel workbook, you need either Excel for the Mac or a compatible program.
