Setting Up Users’ Client Devices
After your server is set up, you need to configure the client devices to connect to Contacts Server. In this section, I show you how to configure both Macs and iOS devices. Setting up Windows CardDAV clients depends on the third-party software you use, so I’m not discussing that task here. (See the section “Windows clients for contacts service,” earlier in the chapter.)
You can also use Profile Manager to set up Mac and iOS devices from the server. I describe how to do so in Chapter 16.
Setting up a user’s Contacts or client
The user client for contacts services is called Contacts in Mountain Lion and Address Book in Snow Leopard and Lion. The setup procedure is nearly identical for all three versions.
To set up the user’s Contacts or Address Book (in Mac OS X 10.6 or later) to connect to the server, follow these steps:
1. Launch Contacts (or Address Book) on the Mac client machine.
2. Click the Contacts (or Address Book) menu and select Preferences.
3. Click the Accounts icon in the toolbar and then click the Add (+) button.
The Add Account dialog slides down, as shown in Figure 10-5.
