Image Conversion Best Practices
Regardless of the type of system you are converting from, following a few guidelines and best practices will help make the conversion more efficient and, in some cases, will help to save space. Remember, when converting an image, your system will have a copy of both the original image and the new image; therefore, you need twice the size of the virtual machine for the conversion. If you have a 100GB VMDK, you will need an additional 100GB of space for the conversion. Only after the image is converted and tested should the VMDK be deleted.
