The Preboot Execution Environment (PXE) is a protocol designed to assist with booting an OS without the use of a local disk drive. With PXE, the OS can boot via a network device. The PXE boot environment allows you to configure the system to boot into an environment automatically where it will not only boot an OS, but also install it as well. As with the other configuration options, configuring a virtual machine using PXE boot can be done via the Oracle VM Manager, OEM Grid Control, and the Oracle VM CLI.
