Installing the VM Server

You have several installation methods to choose from. The Oracle VM Server can be installed from a CD-ROM, the hard drive, or the network. The network installation consists of installing from NFS, FTP, or HTTP. The CD-ROM installation is the most common and perhaps easiest to perform because no additional configuration steps are required.

Installing from CD-ROM

To install from CD-ROM, place the CD-ROM into the drive and then power on the server. After POST (Power-On Self Test), the Oracle VM Server installer will appear. As mentioned before, the VM Server installation will install the hypervisor and dom0.
