&&var

Creates a SQL*Plus variable that is replaced with a value that is retained for subsequent use. var specifies the name of a SQL*Plus variable that is replaced by a value supplied at the time the statement or command is executed. The terminal session running SQL*Plus is prompted for the value the first time &&var is encountered, and the value is retained until the end of the SQL*Plus session, or until var is undefined.
