PL/SQL and Java

Java has been growing in popularity in recent years because of its ability to run on any machine, as well as its openness. The Java philosophy closely matches Oracle’s approach of running on all platforms. This makes Java and Oracle a good match. Oracle has embraced Java from the start. It was available in previous versions, but beginning with Oracle8i, Oracle has embedded a Java environment called JServer within the database. This includes Enterprise JavaBeans (EJB) server software, 100-pure JVM, a CORBA 2.0 architecture, and built-in support for Java Database Connectivity (JDBC), SQLJ, and XML. Don’t get worried; this means that you can use Java with PL/SQL.
