Formatting Columns
The next formatting command available to you is the COLUMN command, which can do a variety of tasks. Some of its functionality allows you to define a column heading, word wrap the values, format the data, store a value for use in the title, or stop the printing of a particular column.
Table 11.2 contains the various options available for the command. Many of the keywords can be abbreviated. The abbreviated name is outside the brackets.
Column commands can be entered at the SQL prompt or can be included in a script. The command will remain in memory until it is cleared or until a new command is entered for the column.
