4. Oracle Solaris 10 as an x86 Guest

As we will discuss in Chapter 6, “Oracle Solaris Containers,” an Oracle Solaris Container is a virtualized operating system (OS) environment created within a single instance of the Oracle Solaris operating system. Today, many people also want to run Solaris 10 as a full instance of an operating system in a virtual machine (VM) of an x86 (or x64) computer. It is anticipated that the number of users seeking this capability will increase in the future, and that the use of Solaris 10 as an x86 guest will expand into other virtualization technologies as well.
