The objective of garbage collection tuning in an SOA Suite application is to reduce the overhead of garbage collection. This chapter looks at how we do that at a high level.

Getting ready

This recipe discusses the process of tuning garbage collection for an application in the SOA Suite; as such it uses a number of techniques described elsewhere in the book. This recipe assumes that you are using the HotSpot JVM, and if you are using the JRockit JVM, the same principals apply. The starting parameters suggested are based on using a 64 bit JVM.
