TARGET

Specifies the target database.

CATALOG

Specifies the optional recovery catalog database.

AUXILIARY

Specifies the optional auxiliary database.

LOG filename

Specifies a filename for command output. If the file already exists, it will be overwritten unless you use APPEND.

APPEND

Appends command output to the log file. Creates the log file if it does not already exist. The log file will be overwritten if you don’t use this keyword.

MSGNO

Displays RMAN message numbers.

TRACE

Traces and logs RMAN commands to an output file.

DEBUG

Displays verbose SQL execution messages.

PIPE

Allows for RMAN commands to be issued via the DBMS_PIPE package. Pipes may also be used for output purposes.

TIMEOUT

Used in conjunction with the PIPE command; it causes an RMAN session to terminate within a specified time limit.

SEND

Sends vendor specified commands to all channels when using a media management layer.
