Soft real-time

The qualifier "soft" in soft real-time is used to refer to real-time environments that require some kind of control over latencies, but not an exact bound for every pause. Typically, soft real-time involves specifying a quality of service level for latencies that is not to be exceeded. The JRockit Real Time garbage collection policies support this (deterministic GC).
