The popularity of JSP technology grew rapidly because it was easier to use than the preceding technologies. Instead of building up an HTML page using print statements and coding low-level details of the HTTP communication in a servlet file, developers could concentrate on creating the HTML page using HTML tags and JSP (Java-oriented) tags.
