What Non-J2EE Web Technologies Are Popular in J2EE Environments?

In addition to the J2EE servlet and JavaServer Pages web client alternatives, three other web client user interface technologies are worth mentioning: JavaServer Faces technology, ADF UIX, and ADF Faces. Although they are not part of the J2EE 1.4 specification, they are solid alternatives for creating web-deployed, light-client applications. In later discussions of how to develop web applications, this book provides examples using JSF and the successor to ADF UIX, ADF Faces. In addition, web services provide supplemental functionality for J2EE client and server environments. All of these technologies are worth a brief mention here to round out the view of J2EE basics.
