ALTER DATABASE

Synopsis

ALTER DATABASE { MOUNT | OPEN [RESETLOGS] } |
         { MOUNT | OPEN [RESETLOGS] DATABASE };

Same as the ALTER DATABASE statement in SQL. You can use this command to mount and open a database from an RMAN prompt. You can include the command within a RUN command or by itself.

RESETLOGS

Resets the online redo logs to start at sequence number 1. If you specify the RMAN ALTER DATABASE command, the target database is automatically reset within the catalog. If you specify the SQL*Plus version of the command, you must execute the RMAN RESET DATABASE command in order to reset the target database within the catalog.
