Synopsis

Value: service name

Default: NULL

Specifies the name of the service to be associated with the dispatcher. Using this name in the CONNECT string allows users to connect to an instance through a dispatcher. Make sure to specify a unique name, and do not enclose it in quotation marks. If this parameter is not specified, MTS_SERVICE defaults to the value specified by DB_NAME. If DB_NAME also is not specified, the Oracle Server returns an error at startup indicating that the value for this parameter is missing. Obsolete with Oracle9i.
