Running Enterprise Manager

To start the Enterprise Manager Console, enter the command:

oemapp console

on the machine that will be the Console or select it from the Programs listing on a Windows machine. You will be prompted for a username and password and will be asked whether you want to run the Console standalone or with the Oracle Management Server.

The default username and password for the master administrator is SYSMAN/OEM_TEMP. You can create other username/password pairs for other users once you enter the Console.

If you are running the three-tier configuration, you also have to start the Oracle Management Server. Startup can be part of the boot sequence for the middle-tier server, or you can start the Management Server by invoking the OEMCTRL utility with the command:

oemctrl start oms

on the server on which the Management Server runs.

The OEMCTRL utility also provides the following commands:

oemctrl ping oms

Checks to see if the Management Server is running

oemctrl status oms

Returns the status for the Management Server

oemctrl stop oms

Shuts down the Management Server
