Java in the Oracle Database

Starting with Oracle8i, there is a Java Virtual Machine (JVM) that runs inside the Oracle database. You can use Java to write procedural code for Oracle in much the same way that you use PL/SQL.

The following sections summarize the manual steps for loading and using Java in the Oracle database. If you use JDeveloper, a development tool available from Oracle, you can create a deployment profile that will handle these steps for you automatically.
