Recovery

The following views provide information about the current status of the online and offline redo logs, as well as backup processes controlled by the Recovery Manager (RMAN):

*$ARCHIVE

Lists redo logs that must be archived. Available after database is mounted.

*$ARCHIVE_DEST

Shows the status of all archive log destinations specified for the instance. See the discussion of the initialization parameters LOG_ARCHIVE_DEST, LOG_ARCHIVE_DUPLEX_DEST, and LOG_ARCHIVE_MIN_SUCCEED_DEST in Chapter 2.

*$ARCHIVE_DEST_STATUS

Provides runtime information about archived log redo destinations. Can be used to see the progress of archiving multiple redo logs to multiple locations. New with Oracle9i.

*$ARCHIVE_GAP

Provides information about any gaps in archived redo logs, which can block database recovery operations. New with Oracle9i.

*$ARCHIVED_LOG

Provides information from the control file for all archive logs, using a time-based view of the log files. Available after database is mounted.

*$BACKUP

Shows the backup status of all online datafiles managed by RMAN. Available after database is mounted.

*$BACKUP_CORRUPTION

Details any datafile corruption detected as part of a backup managed by RMAN. Available after database is mounted.

*$BACKUP_DATAFILE

Shows the location of the backup datafile used by RMAN. Available after database is mounted.

*$BACKUP_DEVICE

Provides a list of available backup devices supported by RMAN.
