If you can eliminate possible causes of an issue, then you can narrow down what the cause could be. If I can remove environment, network, third-party software, and so on, as possible causes, I can narrow down what needs to be done to resolve the issues with my system.

Can you see the error happen when you do something in the system? Can you re-create the issue? Does the error happen in both development and production? The more variables you can take to form the equation, the easier it is to resolve the issues.
