Scope of Rules

When we talk about scope in the rules file for HFM, we talk about two things. We talk about variables and when they expire, and we talk about limiting when rules run in the application.

If you get the right answer, it does not mean your rules are written efficiently. Most applications have some part of the rules poorly written. When rules that don’t need to be on are on, that affects performance. When you write rules, think about when the rule needs to run. You need to think about implicit dimensions of the statements. Then you should be using conditional statements to limit the rules as much as possible. You should ask yourself, “Does that ratio need to run at every level?
