The Entity dimension should be used to represent the organizational structure of the business. This is usually done with legal entities, or cost and profit centers at the base level, then consolidating by region, responsibility, or by a defined legal structure. Each entity stores data for the necessary consolidation points. During a consolidation, all the children of a parent are loaded into memory for the system to aggregate all base-level data to store for the parent. This works very well for the structures that are common in consolidation systems.
