Summary

In this chapter, we discussed the different replication methods, architectures, and the hardware associated with each. We also touched upon the latest design concepts and strategies, including functional and nonfunction requirements that were evaluated against the cost of hardware, encouraging a mindful balance in the overall design. GoldenGate's new integration features play a role in the choice of replication methods, offering increased performance and manageability. Finally, we concentrated on backup and recovery options that are often overlooked, but are very important in a GoldenGate implementation.
