Summary

The use of Remote Procedure Calls (RPCs) allows applications to retrieve data from other applications or services. This capability allows data to be distributed across specialized applications. In both HTTP-RPC and XML-RPC, accommodations must be made on the server providing the data so that requests can be accepted and data expected by the client of the service can be generated. Such generation comes at a cost of CPU cycles and probably in the quality and quantity of understanding that the employee needed to create and support the service requires.
