Options for High Availability
Oracle and SQL Server have different components and features for ensuring a database system is highly available. Table 10-1 lists the main high-availability solutions on both platforms.
Oracle has a Maximum Availability Architecture (MAA), which includes a combination of the options with Data Guard and RAC environments.
Each of these solutions for high availability provides some failover capabilities. Combinations of these options provide even more protection.
