Summary of Initial Users
The following lists all initial users in alphabetical order:
- CTXSYS
Used as part of a demo.
- DBSNMP
Used to support the Oracle Enterprise Manager SNMP intelligent agents.
- MDSYS
Contains support for multidimensional databases.
- ORDSYS
Contains support for Oracle image objects.
- RMAN
The recommended name of the user that owns the recovery catalog, used by the RMAN facility. Actually, this can be any user.
- SCOTT
The ubiquitous userid used for years for Oracle demos and training classes. Owns the infamous EMP and DEPT tables.
- SYS
Owns the data dictionary and is the user to which you connect when you CONNECT INTERNAL. This user is automatically granted the DBA role.
- SYSTEM
Used to manage the database, and occasionally to hold tables and packages that support additional features within the database. This user is automatically granted the DBA role.
