About Auditing

Oracle’s auditing facility is action oriented. When it processes a SQL statement that meets specific requirements, it writes a record to the audit trail. It records the time, user, action taken (SQL statement used), and database object against which the action was performed. Normally, the audit trail is stored as the table SYS.AUD$, but you can override this default on some operating systems by having Oracle write to the operating system audit trail.
