Data Cartridges
The Oracle data cartridges described in this section are currently available.
- ConText Cartridge
Provides support for full text retrieval and linguistic services on structured textual information. Provides additional capabilities for storing textual information beyond the traditional VARCHAR2 datatype, and removes the 4000-character limit.
- Image Cartridge
Provides support for two-dimensional data stored in most popular image formats and the ability to convert data between common formats.
- Spatial Cartridge
Provides support for geographic information. Allows you to add location data to your application, making it possible to easily display or aggregate data points by geographic location.
- Time Series Cartridge
Provides enhanced support of temporal data. Also provides additional time series, time scaling, and calendaring functions to query and manipulate time-based information.
- Video Cartridge
Provides support for the storage and delivery of full-motion, full-screen video and digital audio on demand.
- Visual Information Retrieval Cartridge
Provides the ability to characterize, sort, and compare images based upon color, structure, and texture. Licensed from Virage, Inc., this cartridge allows you to search for images that are like another.
