Introduction to the RMAN Architecture
This chapter takes you through each of the components in the RMAN architecture, one by one, explaining the role each plays in a successful backup or recovery of the Oracle database. Most of this discussion assumes that you have a good understanding of the Oracle RDBMS architecture.
