In a Nutshell
As noted at the beginning of the book, Oracle RAC can be compared to a stereo amplifier. If the original music is good, you will hear good music with Oracle RAC. If the original music has a lot of noise, Oracle RAC will amplify that noise and the outcome is sometimes unpleasant. A well-performing application in a single-instance environment will perform equally well or outperform when implemented on Oracle RAC.
Developing applications for Oracle RAC does not require any major changes other than the few considerations explained in this chapter. Other than a few exceptions, all single-instance application design best practices are applicable to Oracle RAC databases as well.
