Workload Distribution and Load Balancing

Workload distribution can sometimes be called load balancing. Workload distribution is the management of user connections in such a way that the work they perform is distributed uniformly across Oracle RAC nodes or cluster database instances. It does not necessarily mean that the work itself is evenly spread between nodes due to this mechanism. The distribution of work is an indirect result of the connection distribution.
