Navigating XML with XPath

XML Path Language (XPath) is used within SQL/XML, XSLT, and XQuery as the basis for accessing XML content and performing operations. W3C XPath standard (http://www.w3.org/TR/xpath) has two versions: XPath 1.0 and XPath 2.0. Both are supported in Oracle XML DB 11g. In this chapter, we will review some essential topics on what XPath is and how to use it in Oracle XML applications.
