SQL*Plus is usually thought of as a tool to manipulate data and perform ad hoc queries against the database; it can also function as an interactive report writer. It uses SQL to get information from the Oracle database, and it lets you create reports by giving you easy control over titles, column headings, subtotals and totals, reformatting of numbers and text, and much more. It also can be used to change the database through the insert, update, merge, and delete commands in SQL.
