CHAPTER 12 Restore

Probably the most important task that the DBA has is to back up the database. This is because the DBA’s greatest responsibility is to ensure the database’s stability and security. In the event of a catastrophic system failure, the DBA must be able to quickly and effectively restore the database to a point in time immediately prior to the failure. Although this task is paramount, it is also the least glamorous and visible of the DBA’s duties. Nevertheless, it’s up to you, the DBA, to make sure everyone understands its criticality.
