In this chapter, we will see in greater detail two of the components that were introduced in Chapter 10, “Adopting a New Approach to Tuning”—namely AWR and ASH. Both these components set the stage for the performance advisors that act on the data they collect. These performance advisors are detailed in the next two chapters, and you will need to understand the data that AWR and ASH collect in order to appreciate what the advisors do.
