Summary

In this chapter, we focused on planned outages, unplanned outages, and how to perform role transitions against them. We've seen the key points and all the possible techniques to perform role transitions, which are SQL*Plus, the Data Guard broker, and Enterprise Manager 12c Cloud Control.

In the next chapter, we'll learn about configuring and using Active Data Guard and snapshot standby database. These are very important features of Data Guard. Also, some advanced topics such as cascading standby databases, advanced compression, cross platform configuration, and Data Guard tuning will be covered.
