Databases and Views
This appendix explains several database concepts. We begin by explaining the difference between traditional schemas, relational schemas, and star schemas. During the discussion on relational schemas, we introduce the techniques known as normalization and denormalization. Following this, we will look at the use of Discoverer with the Oracle E-Business Suite. We explain why views are used and introduce you to Oracle’s business views. We then take a look at Noetix Corporation’s NoetixViews. We close out the chapter by discussing how to create an embedded data warehouse within your E-Business Suite database.
